Studying Swedish Language

Learning swedish language is for immigrants in Sweden who have residence permits and are planning to settle here in the future. Studying in the immigration's school is free.

Swedish for Immigrants ( SFI )

Here I learned the basic knowledge about swedish language and society. We also use computers as one of our learning's aid. SFI has four classifications and to classify the students who will learn in these groups, are made according to their educational backgrounds from their countries of origin. SFI A - is a course to start with if you didn't have any educational backgrounds; SFI B - is applicable to those students who have an elementary level or even unfinished high shool, SFI C - is where I started my first course in studying swedish language. This course is applicable for students who have finished high schools or even just colleges level from their countries of origin. SFI D - is the last basic course in learning swedish language. It means that if you have started from SFI A, you must also undergo SFI B, C, and D. Since I started with SFI C, it was not too long to step forward to the next and final level. Learning in SFI is suitable to all students. You go to school four times a week, 2 to 6 hours a day. Because of the fact that every person is unique, the smartiest you are in learning this language is the fastiest you can finish the course. Even if you've been learning in just months and the other immigrants were already there in a year or many years, but still you can be able to leave them behind. If you finished all the courses under a year, they can give you a bonus, it is about 12 thousands kronor. This is really cool! If you cannot study in the daytime, they have courses during the evening too.

My first day in school...

Swedish as the Second Language ( SAS )

Here I must learn the continuation of the swedish language which I studied from SFI. SAS is the secondary level in studying the language and it has 4 courses. SAS G - is the ground level and must start after you have finished SFI. After SAS G, the continuation is SAS 1 - this is the course I should study in August. SAS 2 and SAS 3 are the next courses. You can also study another courses within the comvux in between courses, depends on how you want it. I studied Mathematics 2 while I was studying SAS G.  If you want to study in the universities here in Sweden, you need to finish all of the courses from SFI to SAS 3.

Here is a picture during our presentations in SAS G. In the picture is, Amina and her group were presenting their ideas.

It depends on you if you want to finish all of these courses. The most important is that you can understand swedish and you can everything about swedish language. It is much easier to find job if you have been in the immigration's school. So take the chance and grab the opportunity to study swedish language first. You can meet people who came from different countries as well as meeting some from your country too. In the future, it is easier for you to find job if you talk and understand swedish. This is your investment!
